The Demand Planning module of an APS provides the demand data that are the (deterministic) basis for the sequent planning phases. Here, usually univariate forecasting procedures (times series methods) are used, such as simple exponential smoothing, double exponential smoothing, Holt's procedure, Winters' procedure, Croston's method, etc.

Some APS also support causal methods such as multiple linear regression analysis.
