Planning under Uncertainty

In a supply network numerous unexpected events occur that may have implications for the value-adding processes in the complete supply network. These events may be machine breakdowns, increased transportation times or even unexpected large demands. Unfortunately, inadequate planning approaches that neglect capacity constraints during the planning process may make the development of the value-adding processes unpredictable.

A number of concepts are availabe to protect the value-adding processes against random disturbances.
